Cancer

Helsinki is a globally notable and progressive center for research and development of cancer treatments. Two Academy of Finland Centers of Excellence focusing on cancer research are located at the University of Helsinki: The Center of Excellence in Cancer Genetics and Center of Excellence in Translational Cancer Biology.

The Helsinki University Central Hospital Cancer Center, the largest cancer hospital in Finland, was the first in the Nordic countries to be accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC). The Comprehensive Cancer Center develops individualized and anticipatory cancer treatments in collaboration with researchers and companies, while employing the latest technology.
